International Scientific Conference: ‘Photovoltaics at the nanoscale’ 24-28 October 2011

September 24, 2011

"Photovoltaics at the nanoscale"

Hasselt University, Belgium
24 - 28 October 2011

This conference will bring together scientists and engineers to exchange and discuss the latest ideas and trends in nanoscale photovoltaics, with the focus on specific research themes in the field of organic photovoltaics (OPV).
The themes that will be addressed are:

  • Next generation OPV materials & devices
    • Novel donor and acceptor materials
    • Deposition techniques and devices
  • Advanced characterization from α to Ω
    • Electro-optical and morphological characterization
    • Degradation and lifetime
  • Charge transfer mechanisms & Thermodynamic efficiency limit
  • Challenges in controlled synthesis of conjugated polymers

The different themes are programmed as ‘thematic workshops'. A thematic day consists of a keynote lecture followed by lectures given by renowned top scientists in the field of that specific theme. All the speakers are selectively invited by the organizers. Every thematic day is finalized with a panel discussion amongst the participants and the speakers.

Additionally, the full program includes a one-day school with tutorials. Active participation of young researchers is strongly encouraged by a poster session and programmed group discussions.

Organext present at the Innoventivity day - UHasselt - October 13 2011

September 23, 2011

Come and visit Innoventivity Day on October 13 at Hasselt University, campus Diepenbeek. This network forum is the perfect opportunity for companies as well as non-profit organizations to meet the wide range of applied research at the University of Hasselt, PHL, XIOS and KHLim.

For the occasion, the central agora of the university is the epicenter where research departments organized in thematic classes demonstrate their expertise and ongoing projects by presenting case studies, practical projects and demos. Topics range from advanced material to arts, from socio-economic studies to healthcare and information technology, ... Every organization will find something of interest here. Of course the project "Organext" will be present too. We're looking forward tot meeting you there.

Interesting programm
Tech Transfer UHasselt, which is coordinating this Innoventivity Day, has put together an interesting afternoon programm. This is scheduled to kick off around 14h with speeches on innovation and valorisation from various points of view. Rector Luc De Schepper, Minister of Innovation Ingrid Lieten and Representative Marc Vandeput each present their opinion about the future of business/research cooperation. Afterwards top speakers from the industry talk about their experience with current research projects.
The rest of the programme consists of nine case studies where a researcher in tandem with a company presents the results of the intense collaboration between universities and industrial partners. Of course there is permanent opportunity for networking and informal get-togethers between researchers and companies.

This event is supported by multiple organizations (VOKA Limburg, VKW Limburg, Limburg Unizo, LRM, Innovatiecentrum Limburg) and also fits into several European projects on innovation and valorisation (TTC ELAt, TeTRRA), the fair therefore will be euregional tinted.

Target group
This forum aims cross-border at:
- companies
- Non-profit organizations
- Local government
- All others interested in research, innovationa and new applications.
